Hi - Introduction
After an extremely long search, I finally came into possession of my dream car - a flawless black on black 2002 Jaguar XJR with only 60,000 miles.
And was promptly sandwiched between a bus and a truck in an absolutely unavoidable accident six days later. Happened at low speed, but both vehicles were so high my bumpers were useless.
20,000$ worth of damage meant one totaled Jag... I shed a few tears and moved on.
Fast forward a few months and here I am again. After a madcap trip to Vegas and back to phoenix over the weekend, I'm in possession of a replacement. One 2002 Jaguar XJR, 57,000 miles, Quartz on Tan. I miss the black on black (it was obscenely sexy and -sharp-), but this is a good second choice and it doesn't feel anywhere near as hot inside. I know I only owned it a few days, but the black on black was almost unlivable even in the winter and summer in the AZ desert probably would have killed me. The tan interior seems like a lifesaver and the dark gray exterior is making me happy since I can touch it and let a TINY bit of dust falling on it without feeling like it's ruined (I feel like I spent more time wiping my black on black down than I did driving it).
I'll have some questions etc to ask, but I just wanted to say hi first. Thanks for being here everyone!

I'll throw up pics soon as I've got enough posts to do so. She's a real beauty (and, of course, a beast too). It's just so nice to be back on the road in the long and low cat. Wish I'd never wrecked the last one, but it actually worked out pretty nice for me. Insurance paid out 4,000$ more than I paid for the last one, so I applied all that cash to the new one. Can't beat a 6,000$ XJR with 57,000 miles

Got it.
Well, I went ahead and added a few pics (of my destroyed black on black XJR and the replacement quartz ride).
Just glad to be back in my cat.

It was heartbreaking
.
Even worse was when they told me they were totaling it out. The damage didn't look nearly as bad as it actually was. I was pretty convinced they'd put her back together and I'd be off again. Instead, it was nearly 20k worth of damage according to the adjuster.
It hurt, especially due to the exceptional condition the car was in. Interior was showroom quality, I swear the former owner must have hovered over the seats because there's no other explanation for how little wear they had on them. I had her mirror-polished and she was without question the most badass automobile I've ever driven.
The new one is in pretty fantastic shape too, and I do love the color combination... Still, I'll always have a sweet spot in my heart for the black beauty (and memories of sweat pouring off my body every time I got into it). I don't miss the heat, and I certainly don't miss having to wipe the car down every single time someone so much as touched the car. The black mirror finish was so prone to any smudge that I carried a whole center console full of terry cloths to wipe it down when I got in and out of it
. Won't have to do that with the Quarts.
