Default Hi, for the Isle of Wight- UK

2nd Jag. First was X type 2.0D Sport, 2003, 150k on the clock. Had that 6 years until last week.
Clutch and flywheel need replacing - with labour that's £1,000.....so no.
So I picked up my mother in laws car, X type 2.0D SE, 2006, 111k on the clock. So from a sporty to a toyed-up-luxury-leather seated job. It has a new clutch and has been regularly serviced. However she is 70 and drives like it. Glowlight plug was on, and it was in limp mode. Once warm, restart the car and all was fine. So clearly it needed a good run, so I drove it home (211 miles) like I stole it in GTA. All clear now, and has been for 4 days.
Previous car was faultless until the clutch/flywheel........... so I didn't learn much about it! Only found out yesterday (On here from user Thermo) that holding the trip button down at start.....puts the Test data on the dash display. So, if anybody has got a full list of the Test data code names and their nominal values I would much appreciate it.

So, your MIL's Jag only had carbon on the valves. LOL
Great story, and congratulations on your latest Jag.

yes. The way she drives I doubt it's been past 3000 rpm.
I almost red lined it a few times in 2nd gear, buried the neighbourhood in a smokescreen. Added system cleaner with a tank fill then drive "inappropriately" for 200 miles. Couple more puffs of smoke on that trip. She's fine. Lol.

Welcome to the forum oldshape,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
