Default Hi - a new member to the forum

Hi all.
I'm a new member to the forum. I have fairly recently purchased a 1998 Daimler Super V8 (X308) with 77,000 miles in need of a significant amount of TLC, (much more than I expected TBH). I bought it hoping it would be a "nice car for weekend cruising - something with a bit of style", and being a car DIYer, I'd hoped to get it back to road legal without resorting to a full restoration. I'm based near Edinburgh, Scotland.
Since buying the car, I've been identifying the issues, researching on this excellent forum and trying to fix them. It does appear, however, that the more I look, the worse it appears to be. I will no doubt be requesting help from the forum with a number of issues, but for now, and in summary, the car has significant corrosion on the chassis, sills and rear wheel arches, the heater only blows hot air, none of the heater airflow direction flaps operate, front tyres are worn significantly on the very inside edges (possibly wheel alignment issue?), the headlining needs to be replaced and I think it has the original timing chain arrangement which I understand is a ticking time bomb. At the moment, I have stripped out seats and carpets in order to assess the state of the inner sills and floor. Its not pretty. After some web searching, it appears that body panel metalwork, jacking points etc. are unavailable for the X308 unless someone can suggest otherwise. It also appears that there aren't many independent Jaguar specialists in Scotland central belt, unless any members can suggest otherwise. Anyway, that's probably enough from me for now and I look forward to talking to you all.
Cheers,
Ken.

Hello, Ken,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar Super V8!
Cats are really good at hiding when they're sick or hurt. It's good you have succeeded in finding the problems you have identified.
I wish you success in this new adventure.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
