my names jody and have bought my first jag, a 99 black xj8 lwb, i absolutely love it, would have preferred an xjr obviously but this one came up for $12000 nzd and 100,000 kms in black and had just had a major service, so i thought was too good a deal.

however, im here to see what i can learn and if anyone can help with a problem that has arisen. something has gone wrong with the security system, the car wont turn over at all and the remote isnt working. the car was fine, i got in the drivers seat, others were getting in, the central locking went off by itself and the next thing i knew, it wouldnt start. since then, ive tried it again to no avail, disconnected the battery, and no luck there either.

can anyone help ?

For your problem, post over in the XJ8 section for your year.

Give as much info as possible ie any dash lights when you turn the key.

Have you checked that the gear stick did not get knocked out of park etc.

Tried a manual unlock/lock of all the doors....

And don't forget the time differences. ZZzzzz
