Hi from North of the Border
Hi All,
Just joined through a suggestion of another member here and I'm looking forward to spending time with everybody, learning about Jaguars and just generally chilling.
I have three (4 really) passions in life - my better half, our 1957 Chevrolet 210 4-Door Sedan and soon to be collected 2012 XF 2.2D SE 190 (and curry).
The Chevy is fitted with a 350 V8 Small-block & 350 auto, disc brakes, air suspension and lots of chrome. As a wee boy my father had a Ford Corsair and I remember thiking when I was old my cars would never have chrome as I spent most Sundays polishing the Ford's - oh how time has changed me!
The Jaguar took a bit of getting as I ordered a 2.2D SE 190 on the Thursday, only to get a phone call on the Tuesday telling me Jaguar were not making the SE with a 190 engine, only the 163. Now to me 27 hp is a fair loss for such a big car and after a few sleepless nights the dealership called me to say they'd located the type and colour I wanted in England and would have it transported up. It came with a couple of options I didn't necessarily want, but we came to an agreement and I'm counting the days until I collect it at the end of the month.
I was in the fire brigade for 25 years, then retired early and I'm now an Associate Research Fellow for Glasgow Museums researching early 20th century Scottish vehicle manufacturers, in particular Argyll. Its a tough job, but someone has to do it!
Thanks y'all for reading my stuff, WeegieBob.

Welcome to the forum Weegie Bob,
I'm a Fifer, but no need to hold that against me.
I don't expect there are too many '57 Chevys around Glasgow?
Post up a pic of the Jag when it shows up.
Just to make you feel at home

Thanks for the welcome Rob & Norri - they're much appreciated.
Rob - I had been so intent on reading the various threads I hadn't noticed until after I registered and started this thread that this site appears to be principally populated by American and Canadian members. To me that's a real bonus as I'm very interested in the views you guys have on vehicles which we 'share', not to mention I spend a fair amount of time chewing the fat on another American web site that is Chevrolet based so I'm not too bad on subjects on your side of the pond.
Norri - its nice to have another near neighbour as it was one of your Scottish admin collegues who recommended this site. He & I are members of a UK VW web site where he was arranging a Scottish VW meet and had invited me to join in as currently I have a Golf TDI GT. I mentioned to him I was leaving that site as the Golf was going, hence the reason I'm now here - and yes, once I get the opportunity I'll post some images of the Jaguar.
WeegieBob.

Bob, I must admit I have never owned a Chevy. But the town I'm from has a big car show each year, and it's full of American metal.
