Default Howdy from Central Texas!

Just picked up a 2006 XKR Convertible in British Racing Green and loving it!

Purchased from Momentum Jaguar in Houston through the Internet Sales Department. I bought it on-line and sent docs back-and-forth with Fedex. Sales guy (Chad Tatum) was a pleasure to work with. He even sent a limo to pick me up from the airport when I picked up the car (nice touch!!)

Momentum has some bogus "Dealer Services" thing - just consider it a mandatory $500 upcharge on whatever price you finally negotiate.

As I was buying it sight-unseen, I had a mobile mechanic inspect the car before purchase but being in central Houston I doubt he got it up to 65MPH where there is a wheel shimmy - but since it just got new tires I am going to get the wheels rebalanced before looking at the brake discs...

DSC/ABS warning came up the day after I got it home - looks like I will be spending today cleaning the wheel speed sensors.

Already finding the wisdom of Reverend Sam to be useful!

Welcome to the Forum. Begin immediately to share your Jag experiences with us, both good and bad. Try to get a dependable referral for quality independent Jag mechanics. If they are truly qualified, they won't be 'cheap.' But they will be worth their weight in gold for maintenance advice, diagnostics and long-term recommendations. If you are close enough for servicing in Dallas I can make a suggestion. Let me know. Again, welcome!

Welcome to a fellow Central Texan! I'm in RR/Georgetown area.

If you're looking for an indy shop, Classic Jaguar in Southwest Austin is a good place to go to.

What do you say about taking our cats to the next Austin Cars and Coffee?

Thanks for all the well wishes!

All problems resolved easily (Certainly easier than driving back to Houston!)

- ABS/DSC warnings cleared by following the Wheel Sensor cleaning instructions from Reverend Sam ($0.00 + 40 minutes of my time)
- Wheel shake at high speed partially cleared by having a bent wheel straightened (couldn't see it as it was on the inside of the rim, corrected from 0.140 to 0.20) ($139.00)
- 4 wheel spin balance (Momentum had mounted new tires but whoever did it either didn't balance them properly or else the weights fell off) ($40.00)

NTB reported that one of the other wheels also had a bend in it, might get that fixed as well, but right now it is riding great!

Marc
