Default Introduction

Greetings Members,

I am just joinnig today after taking possesion of my used 2001 Jag S-type. It is a 3.0L V-6 with 76200 miles (certified). It is supposedly the "Executive" line.

I bought it from a reputable used car dealer who gave me a one year warranty on most things. I'm nonetheless a newbie in Jags. Please help me learn my new Jag inside and out.

I look foward to sharing with you my first problem: no power to the radio system or the cigar lighter.

Cheers!

Welcome to this friendly Forum, I've moved your post to the 'New Members section so we can all say 'Hello'.
I see you've found your car's technical section - you may want to copy the electrical problem there for help but look in the HOW-TOs for fuse + circuit diagrams first.

There's a Regional one too

Welcome to the forum Sledge,

Congratulations on the S-Type. First check the Driver's Handbook for fuses if your warranty doesn't cover electrical faults.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Welcome Sledge. There's a wealth of info. contained on this site (as well as the sister/brother?? group in England) so prepare to use the search function, read your owners manual, and dig through 'til you find that pot-o-gold you're looking for. I sure did and with great success too.

Welcome aboard Sledge.

Miles/Belgium? Is it a UK car? Or have you got an even better deal than you thought, KM.

Good to see you.

At some risk of confusion due my ignorance, here goes:

I bought the car used in Brussels, Belgium. Apparently I am the second owner in its 12 year life. The owners' manual is in Dutch as WAS the on-board messaging system. Thanks to the forum's on-line manuals I was able to teach it English. In defference to its heritage I used UK-English vs American.

The odometer was in KM vs miles, but I asked it to register miles for me just to capture the data point. Back to KMs since I drive it in Belgium and other EU areas.

Also thanks to the online manual I was able to isolate the suspect fuses and change them. Voila! radio and cigarette lighter are powered. I had the local Jag service gents perform a quick Voltage/resistance check. They say I'm good to go.

So I'm newly wedded to a pristine 2001 S-type 3.0L, Executive package, with only 122400Km. Having fun so far!
