Jag noob and potential '08 XJ8 lessee...

Hi everyone,
Looks like a great forum around here. Hopefully I'll have a new Jag in the garage soon and can share photos with you all.
I have a question. Please forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong area, but it looks like this forum gets most of the new car inquiries.
I'm in southern California and several of the dealerships around here are offering hefty discount in the neighborhood of around $20,000 on all new remaining '08 Jaguar XJ8s. Today an XJ8L with navigation and a few other options caught my eye on the showroom floor. They were asking for $49K. After crunching some numbers, they said they could do a lease for $1011 per month including tax, 36 months, 12k miles per year, with minimum drive off assuming excellent credit. This seems inflated. I wasn't going to start negotiations until I was prepared and hence why I'm here asking you all. How low can I expect get these payments under these terms and conditions?
Thanks in advance!

A similar lease could be had on the slightly more expense Lexus GS ($49,860) for about $970. Not a huge difference, though I'd gladly take the Jag instead. Given Jags historic steep price depreciation curve, you might expect the lease to be a little more expensive, by comparison. You would end up spending $36,936 at a minimum on the lease, though if you went over 12k a year or the dealer found something wrong, they could charge you more. If you bought it and sold it 3 years later for more than $12,064, the difference between total lease amount and price, (certainly seems reasonable, you'd could probably get more), you'd be better off. You should at least consider what kind of rates you could get, or how much of your own money you could put into it.
If you have to get a lease, I would look for other examples for comparative luxury cars with lower lease payments and show them those.
