Jags are a car enthusiasts dream car
Currently own my first Jag, a 2003 XKR Conv. Brit. Racing Green, Cashmere interior and Tan top. Bought as resale from local Jag dealer in Sept 2007 with 13k miles. Had five year extended warranty zero deductible included. First five years were a dream come true. Repairs fully covered. No hassle, just shop time but free loaners provided. Since then I am on my second lease of XF sedans. Now at. 62,000 miles on the 03 XKR. Last two years have been a nightmare. Where shall I begin : ABS wiring harnesses frt l. & r., fuel dampers both sides, brake light switch, seat release cable drivers seat, broken hydraulic hose for top in the windshield molding, etc. Still love the car but beaten up. I am considering trading for 2014 XKR conver. at dealer with 20k. A shame to let it go after all that work done. Body, paint, interior all first class. Any advice ?

It sounds like you've had most of the regular issues that can happen with an XKR. Great cars but soon get expensive when you're paying someone to do the work on them. As you say, a shame to let it go when it's in good all round condition. Main concern is it's coming up to the mileage (around 70k) where transmission issues can start.
Follow this link XK8 / XKR ( X100 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Special thanks to GGG for the advise on the upcoming issue of the transmission. You have confirmed my suspicions on this issue. I have noticed hard slams in first to second shifts occassionally & especially first off on a cold morning. What's to be done to avoid a rebuild. Now at 62,000 miles ? Jump ship ?

You will be unlucky if a fluid change doesn't improve it.
Jaguar don't include fluid changes in their service schedules but a change at around 70k miles has often been shown to extend transmission life. Check the XK8/XKR FAQ's for details.
