Smile jaguar lover

I am new to this site. I currently have a 2000 Jaguar S-type 3.0 with 130,000 miles. (bought two years ago with 88,000 miles) Great car with only minor issues and I do all my own work.

Before that I had found a 1994? XJ6 in Las Vegas. My bosses friend drove it to Vegas, won money and flew home and told me to wholesale the jaguar. I did, to myself for $1400.00. That black Jaguar had 208,000 miles and was an excellent car and never let me down. Sadly my ex-wife gave it to her boyfriend and he destroyed the car out of spite. But it made a lifetime Jaguar lover and I think the 2008 models were the last of the best. I miss the long four door car with real wood, lots of power, and just so much class.

When I learn how to post I will ask my concern on my 2000 s type 3.0. I also have pictures of that great black Las Vegas Jaguar.

Thanks, Daryl

I forgot to add to my last post that working in Vegas I had the chance to work with dealers and drove Bentley's, Rolls Royce and many high end cars. But in my XJ6 I really felt like a king. I was more proud to pull up in that car then I was working with $300,000.00 cars. If you have to explain to someone why you love a Jaguar then they have never driven one.

Thanks to everyone here. My airbag light is now off thanks to a post. (broken wire under the drivers seat) Next are the valve cover gaskets.

Thanks again.

You are correct that flashing light was annoying and I knew it was a tiny wire under the drivers seat. I pictured myself fixing the wire and having the side airbag deploy in my face. (and I was lazy.) Funny with it fixed you quickly forget about the light driving you insane every time you drive the car.

I really like this site and everyone has been polite and helpful. Its sad you have to remind people common sense issues on posting without being rude. If you have to explain to someone common courtesy its probably to late for them already.

Thanks again to everyone on here and all the help.

Smile What happens in Vegas doesnt always stay in Vegas.

Long version of my Las Vegas Jaguar. While working for an internet company in Las Vegas and putting photos online for dealerships, I got a call from my boss back in Wichita. His friend had flown to Vegas, actually won some money and flew back home, leaving his XJ6 behind. I was told that I needed to get the Jaguar and get any money from the dealership and wire the money back to him. (at this point I already knew I was getting the Jaguar. We drove down and found the car in the casino parking lot. My wife (ex-wife) took one look at the beautiful car and said, "What an ugly piece of crap." This should have been a sign that she was not the brightest one in the bag. It was a black exterior with tan interior and looked great for 200,000 miles. It said Vanden Plas on the back and looked to be a 1995. I called and offered $1600 cash and the guy said, "Its all yours." I had never owned a car with real wood, power everything and even a setting to add drops of water to the interior with the air on.

When I went to the tag office in Vegas. (they only had one and it was for getting an license or car tags) I waited a few hours and the lady behind the counter told me the car tax value was $10,000 and I was a liar for saying it was only $1600. Then she said if I could get it in writing from a local dealership then I could tag it. She didn't know that I worked with all the dealers in town and knew many owners personally. I drove to the local Bentley/Rolls Royce/Jaguar Dealership and luckily the owner was in. He found it quite funny and wrote a letter stating the car was $600 cash. Yes I lied to the lady at the tag office but I felt she owed me for the hours in line and it was worth showing her up.

I drove the car to Las Angeles, Laughlin, and all over Vegas pretending to be rich. That straight six was really smooth and powerful.

I loved my car and wife loved my employees. (literally, and now I can laugh.) While out of town she and her boyfriend took a knife to the interior, under the hood, and the tires. It was towed and sold for $500 for parts. It was a sad ending for such a great car. Now many years later I have a 2000 S-type with 130,000 and love it. Yes I know its part Ford and part Jaguar but its a great car to hold me over until I can afford a 2008 XJ8L Super.

And now you know the rest of the story. Not the most exciting but all true. Next time I can tell you of my first ride in high school of a V-12 Jaguar my best friend snuck out from his dad.

Daryl,

A great story apart from the sad end to the XJ6. I hope you're keeping a closer watch on both your relationships and the S-Type to prevent any repetition.

Graham
