Default Just bought my first Jaguar!

Hello Everyone,

I Just bought a 1987 XJ6 Jaguar with a 4.2l engine with 103,000 miles.

I have been wanting a Jaguar for over 10 years. My wife and I had to many bills and other things going on. So, my dream car had to wait.

This past January I was on the internet and I came across this website. I was hooked instantly. I really wanted to buy a Jaguar as soon as possible.

I saved money, sold many items on Ebay, sold more items on Craigslist, and did the brown bag for lunch for months.

I found my 1987 XJ6 on Craigslist. I called the very nice lady and she told me that the car had been sitting in her garage for two years. I had to bring a battery for a test drive. I looked the car over. This Jaguar has a Cream color exterior with a navy blue interior.

The car started. Yahoo....

I had never been in a Jaguar before.

I was very excited on April 13, 2013 to finally sit in a Jaguar. I took the car for a test drive and it was true bliss. I bought the car for $2000. The car came from California and has very little rust.

I have three teenage boys and they all want to take the car for a spin. But, I have to say no. I have to treat the car with respect and do the proper repairs and tune-ups.

I am not very good mechanically. I will be asking many questions and reading this forum.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your help.

Finally living (riding) the dream.

Mario

Welcome fellow cheesehead! I grew up in Wausau (East HS class of '78) and remember not seeing many Jags in that part of the world. Hope yours is a keeper.

Hello,

My wife is a Wausau East Grad. Class of 1987. I'm from Wittenberg.

I only know of two Jags in the Wausau area. There must be more around.

It is suppose to be warm this weekend. I will take pictures of the Jaguar after I give it a car wash.

Hi Mario:
Welcome to the forum and Greetings from the Midwest Region. In the 'small world' category, I, too, am from Wausau and am a East graduate from the early 90's. Great place to live and raise a family. I think of the place often.

Congrats on the purchase, and well done saving and scrimping to accomplish your dream. Too many of us rush out to borrow for stuff like that. Paid-off toys seem to me much more satisfying.

Really, well done and welcome to the club. When next coming through town, I'll be sure to keep my eyes open for a white Jag!

Cheers,
Scott

He fellow badger, from the land of Sheboygan Brats..I'm from New Berlin originally and use to fish in Lake Wausau many years ago when the Pike had missing fins because of the paper mills....you know the story..

Good luck with your Jag..they are a classic

All you have to do is call your local Tag agency or DMV and they will tell you all your taxes and reg fees..Shouldn't be more that a $400 or $500 depending on the current value of your Jag..if you have a bill of sale, they usually go by that price for taxes and next year and there after, will be around $100.00....I'm only guessing, cuz..Oklahoma is like that
