Looking at purchasing a one owner 2001 XJR with 80,000 klm's. And found this Site searching for info on the car.

It has full service records but has had no work done on the timing chains.

Thanks to everyone for all the info on here

Welcome to the forum bones35,

Good to have you here. Sounds like you've almost decided to go ahead with the purchase.

As you know your way around the forum, you'll know what's involved in timing chain and tensioner replacement.

Hope the deals works out and you're soon an owner.

Graham

Default Thanks

I'm sure I can do the work. But I'm having trouble finding pricing for the parts. Any suggestions? Or a guess at pricing.

I'm in the UK where supply sources are plentiful and cost is around £250 for a chain and tensioner kit.

Members in the US also have no problems sourcing kits but I expect you'll want to avoid import duty from US to Canada if possible?

Post the question on X308 section XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section and you'll get plenty of suggestions from both US and Canadian members on the best place to buy.

It will be the nicest car in Prince George! Of coursee most cars there are trucks, aren't they?
Welcome to the forum, we do have lots of fellow Canadians. There is a Canadian forum, the link is in my signature.
I get parts from the states myself, but I live close to the border.

Yup most cars up here are trucks. But the XJR will look good in the garage with the 3500 Ram diesel.

Nothing wrong with that! My S-Type often parks right next to my 8.1 L Chevy 2500.

Very nice! I'm jealous. An XJR is my next car, hopefully.

Well it drove the 900k home with no problems at all. Not bad on fuel. And the ride made my old Mercedes fell like a hyundai Pony.
