At last!
Hi there. At 16 years old back in 1958 I walked onto a used sportscar lot in Los Angeles. I fell in love with a beautiful XK120mc. It was a bright red roadster. However, the price was $1100.00 My net worth at the time was about $30.00 and I earned about $15.00 a week from a part time job. But...I have been a Jag fan ever since.
I went to sportscar races back in the '50s to watch C and D types race against Ferraris and Maseratis, which they frequently beat. I also watched Mercedes gull-wing coupes race the XK series Jags. They raced each other at a distance behind the Corvettes who dominated the class.
Well, a few things like service time, marriage, raising kids, college, career and so on interevened and I never bought a Jaguar. It was always "someday". Well, when I spotted a beautiful 2004 XJ8 with under 42,000 miles on it...I said to myself, "If this isn't someday it might never arrive". So, I took it home.
It is absolutely drop-dead gorgious and in beautiful condition. I just returned from the Phoenix area. I cruised along on the interstate at 75-85, (well, a little slower when I entered California), and when I arrived at home the trip computer told me my MPG was 31.4. Amazing!
I have been reading here for a couple of months now, so thanks to all for the good information.
Many blessings to all of you,
Tom
