Looking for some advise/help
I am looking to purchase a 1997-2001 XK8 convertible this Spring and plan to keep the vehicle for a long time.
Wondered whether there is an individual on here who could assist me with advise repurchase, being a novice in all things Jaguar. Have started reading up on things/issues to look out for but think it would be way better to get some help along the way.
Very happy to renumerate/reimburse - I am based out of Bradley Beach, NJ.

RE: Looking for some advise/help
Hey JoeV, if you are willing to travel to look/pickup a car, I highly recommend looking farther south for a 7-10 yr old vehicle. You can count on less corrosion for sure. Your question is a common one for new members here, and to get a good start on looking for pre-owned jags, do a search in the XK8 section to see if some of your concerns can be found relatively easily. Then if you have a specific question, drop back by to fill in the missing gaps.
From reading about other XK* owners, it seems the 1997-2000 models seem to pop up with alot of maintenance issues, some resolved easily (but quite expensive) to the unsolved and more frastrating type. Throwing money at a problem doesn't always result in the solution you were expecting.
Based on my research before purchasing my XK8, if I could recommend to you, if you can afford to look at 2002 and up year models, they will most likely give you less headaches, and possibly, still be under warranty with Select (Jag's premium warranty service). My car is a 2003, and my warranty expires in March 2009.
All the best of luck, and hope to hear back from ya with a new acquisition!
Check with cars.com, as many dealers use that site, and the price isn't set...there's always negotations to be had!
