Love our Jag
I bought a 2005 Jag XJ VDP for the wife because she wanted a big, comfy car with a big back seat so we could take friends with us. The buckets in the 2000 Firebird TA/WS6 and the benches in our E350 van were either too small or too utilitarian. I can't stand boring or pointless cars (SUVs are the bane of the planet), the price was right, so the Jag fit our needs. The huge rear seat area met her requirement and the riv-bonded aluminum construction, unequal length A-arm suspension, 4.2 liter V-8, and Jag exclusivity met mine. In two words: fast limousine......and it's not German! People notice it's a Jaguar and it generates plenty of "Ooooohs."
In reality we've owned two almost identical 2005 XJ VDPs: one leased, and the other a purchase used after the lease expired. The second looked better, had less than half the miles of our leased car, and was cheaper than the buyout on the first one.
Both have been wonderful cars and fabulous tourers. We just completed a 2200 mile trip which was marred by a failed throttle position sensor, but with some hunting on the internet and a capable mechanic, a new throttle body was installed at far less than what others have paid at dealers, and we were on our way. It is noteworthy that the TPS was made by Denso in Japan. Not even their parts are perfect. This forum was extremely helpful in diagnosing the problem and determining the correct solution.
My other cars are a 2006 Lotus Elise, a 2006 Pontiac GTO, and a 2002 Nissan Frontier pick-up. The Lotus is a street-legal Formula Ford, albeit Toyota powered, and the GTO is an inexpensive torque-monster with a Corvette drivetrain. I sold the Firebird and van because I didn't have further need of them, the former being really cheap speed and over-the-top looks, and the latter being a giant prime-mover.

Welcome to the forum Lotusyank,
Yes - Jaguars do stand out from the crowd!
Good to hear the information here helped identify and resolve your recent TPS issue. I can therefore assume you know your way around here and don't need a link to the X350 section.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
