Makes me feel so young . . . .
It has been years since a drive down a country road brought a smile to my face but after buying my 2010 XF Premium my grin gets wider every day!
As my long-suffering wife says "You've had 4 Jaguars over the years, so why one now when you are too darn old for a mid-life crisis?" I think every Jaguar owner will know exactly how I feel.
My first Jaguar in 1963 was a carefully used 1959 XK 150 in Sherwood Green. Loved it. That was followed, as more space was needed, by a very tired 3.8 MkII sedan in Burgundy that seemed to use more oil than gasoline! Years passed and in 1977 a 2 year old XJ6 in Silver . . . a true delight . . . arrived in our driveway. Then in 1979 I fell in love with a Mustard colored XJ12 — OK, so the color wasn't exactly a best-seller, but could that car move. Of course in any weather over 75° and in heavy traffic the water in the rad would boil, but that was just one of the minor irritations that came out of Britain. It stayed in the family for a year and I'm ashamed to say we bought an Oldsmobile followed by a fairly long list of non-Jaguar products.
But here I am, 30 years later and back on track. Whenever I get behind the wheel of the XF I feel as though decades have dropped away. It sure is a great feeling.
