Welcome to this friendly Forum.
I see you've found your technical section, you will need to get an OBD code reader to check the problem. There's a huge thread here

Welcome to the forum faiswish,

Follow Steve's advice about a Code Reader. An essential piece of equipment to help maintain your S-Type.

If you're new to this model, the 'HOW TO' thread at the top of the S-Type tech section is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Jaguar s type 3.0l v6. I get p0420 & p0430 code I change both side all 4 brand new o2 sensors, still same, I took old catalytic convert out they were bad and pluged.
Can I install universal cc but I have to weld o2 sensor cuppler on it on same spot, will it shut my check engine light off?

After you've fitted the new sensors, the stored P0420 and P0430 codes and the CEL won't disappear by themselves. You need to have them cleared with a ScanTool.

The codes are resetting on the next diagnostic cycle which means the fault hasn't been cleared by fitting new sensors.

The possible causes on P0420 and P0430 are:

1. HO2 Sensor disconnected
2. HO2 Sensor to ECM wiring fault
3. HO2 Sensor heater to ECM wiring fault
4. HO2 Sensor heater failure
5. Upstream HO2 Sensor failure
6. Downstream HO2 Sensor failure
7. Catalyst failure

You've eliminated 5 and 6 with new sensors and should also have eliminated 4.

Before assuming catalyst failure and throwing $$$'s at it, items 1, 2 and 3 should be checked first.

I suggest you post the question in S-Type tech section for advice from members with the same model.

Graham

There's a risk in using anything other than Jaguar catalytic converters.

If universal ones can be used successfully, the members on the S-Type tech section with the same model as you will know. Post the question about universal catalytic converters in the tech section:

S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

You should get advice there on suitable alternatives.
