Modifications to The NAVi unit..

I'm in the process of searching for an S-Type 4.2 liter Jag - I'm expecting to get a vehicle with the NAVi screen - Since I'm a controls engineer by profession, I plan on getting all the manuals so I can look into adding an on board computer to interface to the management system... Also adding internet access opens up a whole bunch of possibilities...

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

My interest with the NAVI is to actually create my own custom interface... I'm assuming, without looking at the schematics, that the display is just that; with a touch screen interface?
So with the right display device you could integrate the existing NAVI video and other sources - It could be a 7" iPAD or similar device with interface to the OBDII. Depends on the OS on the unit - Say Linux for reliability and programability...
Any thoughts comments folks?
