More busted knuckles than brains!
So, I have a low mileage (85K) '91 VDP that died last fall on the way to Ohio for my family reunion. My father in law helped me haul it home and get it in my garage. Winter passed, things happened, transmission went out in my 96 Lincoln Continental, spring came, time for a new car. Or maybe fix the '91? Nah, let's go buy another Jaguar! Went lookng for a Saab for fuel economy and safety, found a '99 XJ8 with 71K. Bought it for the style and the luxury.
I know the xj40s have issues with door handles breaking, minor electrical gremlins, etc. So, we'll by an XJ8, and enjoy the reliability built in after Ford bought Jaguar, right? Nah, now we have timing chain tensioners to worry about!
At least with broken door handles, you can still drive the car!
Thankfully, I'm very good as a diy'er, so I plan to fix the '91 and sell it this summer, and do more research on the tensioners for the '99 XJ8. There's still no prettier car on the road (or in my garage) than a Jaguar.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.
