moving car

I just registered here, so I'm not sure how to do this; here's my question: I have a mk II in Maryland, unrestored and undrivable, which I want to have moved to Florida. Does anyone have an idea or suggestions as to how to find a reliable mover?

depending on the amount you want to pay, there are national companies that strictly provide this service. Typically, they take your 'order' then after arranging several other vehicles in the same area and same direction, they pick it up and deliver it to you, unfortunately, its on their schedule. That is the cheapest option (other than motors above).
Yellowpages lookup or google car transporters and see what pops up.

Welcome to the forum. I've never had to arrange for transportation like that. If I did, I would pick up an issue of Hemmings Motor News. They are a classic car publication. Another good resource may be Haggerty Insurance. See who they reccomend? Good luck with your quest.
grl, how much are you willing to pay to have the vehicle moved. You have a few options and the cost is inversely proportional to the possible heartaches.
The cheapest is to place an ad in say Craigslist and see if anybody hits. There are people driving to/from Maryland/Florida and you may find someone with an empty trailer going that way and for say $500 be more than willing to pick up the car and deliver it door to door. But, this is Joe Schmoe doing this and the possibility of problems runs high due to damage from weather, stones, etc. The big problem with this is that they are not issured and therefore can make it difficult to get any sort of repayment. There are a few honest guys out there that probably would admit if they did something wrong and would be willing to make things right. But, many won't.
From there, you have the professional services. All of these guys should be bonded and insured (note, I say should, specifically ask for their bonding number and who they insure the cars through, if they can't answer both of those with verifiable info, don't use them, not any better than Joe Schmoe). The better ones will haul the car inside of an enclosed container. For obvious reasons, those with the enclosed trailer will tend to be able to garantee the car on the other end. But, normally this is at a higher cost.
So, what are you willing to spend to get the car to the other end? If I had a trailer, I would be half tempted on doing it for you. I am up in Maryland (California area) and have friends down in Jax, FL area that I have been wanting to see. But, no trailer on this end.

If you want to go with enclosed transport, many folks recommend Passport, which is now owned by Fed-Ex. http://passport.fedex.com/
They are not very cheap but the quality of service is very good. They will charge a little bit more if the car is not running.
I used them to transport my E type from TN to IL and was very happy.
