Default New 2007 XK Owner

Hi All,

Ever since I was a kid, and put together a model kit of a red XKE, Jaguar has been on my 'dream car' list. And after reaching a certain age, and realizing that I'm not going to own that many more cars in my life, it was time to seriously consider getting one of those cars on my list.

After searching the internet for available red Jaguars (every car I've owned has been some shade of red!), I decided that my budget (and my wife ;-) ) would allow me to buy a 2007 XK/XKR. I found a red XKR locally, and test drove it for half a day. Loved the sound and available power from that supercharged V8! But that car had not received a lot of love from previous owners, and would require serious investment to 'clean it up', so I kept looking.

After missing out on a sale from a private owner, and deciding against dealing with a dealer that had a lot of bad comments on the web, I found (based on pictures only) a beautiful XK convertible at a respected dealer half way across the country. I bought it without ever seeing it in person, and had it shipped to me.

So that was in November, and having had the mildest December that I can remember in the Midwest, I got a chance to drive my 'new' toy quite a bit, and I have got to say, it puts a smile on my face every time I see it!

So now its January, and there's snow on the ground, so my baby will stay in the garage until spring, during which time I have turned to the internet again, this time to look for ways to tweak it. I've already bought the remote controlled convertible top up/down kit (not installed yet, waiting for warm weather). And am thinking about finding one of those ACM units, so I can play music from my iPhone.

But my most desired tweak is to add a trailer hitch, not for towing, but to carry a bike rack, for when my wife and I take some road trips and want to have our bikes along. I haven't found anything available from any regular hitch maker, apparently the aluminum unibody scares them all off.

Has anybody found a commercially available hitch that will fit a 2007 XK?

Has anyone had a custom hitch made for 2007 (or up) XK?

If I can't buy one, I'll take a crack at making my own (at least prototyping it, and then getting a local welder to make the real thing).

I'd love to hear from anyone with helpful information on this, or other tweak topics for my 'new' 2007 XK convertible!

This forum looks like a wealth of information, can't wait to read more!

Welcome to the forum Ken,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

We have an XK Coupe owner who uses a Sea Sucker to carry two bikes (see post #12 in this thread - https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-bar-xk-91433/) but I can't recall anyone coming up with a solution for the Convertible.

Follow this link XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
