New, but old guy!
Hello to you all,
I’m a new guy to the forum, but I’m a retired engineer……hence the ‘old guy’ and I live in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Being retired, I am seriously thinking of buying an older Daimler Super V8, LWB, or a Jaguar Sovereign LWB of around 1997- 2000 to compliment my older age, to use at weekends!
My very first car way back in 1965 when I was 18, was a second hand white 1961 Jag Mk II 3.4 which cost me the princely sum of £495! My second car was a beautiful 2 year old red Volvo P1800S. In my time, I’ve also had a Rover 3.5 V8 P5B, and when my kids were young and we had 2 beagle dogs, I had a huge Datsun 280C estate.
I love American cars, and I’ve had two Chevy Starcraft Dayvans, the last one I just sold 2 years ago.
I also follow F1, and I’m interested in boats, ships and planes, and my wife and I are both animal lovers.
I would love a Daimler Super V8, LWB, but If I can’t find a suitable one I would be just as happy with a Jaguar Sovereign LWB

Welcome to the forum John,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I always prefer the Daimler trim to the Jaguar equivalent but they're rarer and harder to find.
Follow Norri's link in post #3 to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Many thanks for the welcome to the forum, it's much appreciated.
Graham, forgive my ignorance, but is the 308 that you mention, the Daimler Super V8, or the Sovereign or both?
Thanks

John,
X308 is the factory designation for the 1997-2003 XJ8 body. It covers all derivatives of normally aspirated and supercharged engines plus the trim options across the Jaguar and Daimler ranges.

John,
We're closer than most members although Admin (Jim) is only as far away as Glasgow.
Most days have me communicating with members in Australia, US, Canada and continental Europe. It's very much an international forum so with the time differences there's something going on around the clock.
Thinking of the model you're after, I had a 2000 XJ8 Sovereign LWB.

Beautiful car but the Daimler is the nicer variant. It took me long enough to find a LWB.
