Well hello everyone,

I'm a 31 year old female who owns a beautiful 1998 jaguar vanden plas whom I've named Camilla. I came across the site on Google looking for info on how to fix an overheating issue. I consider myself to be quite good at fixing and putting together most other things so I figured why not my car, seeing as how it's Christmas and most places are closed and its become a major issue since yesterday. I look forward to finding out good information about my car and how to better take care of it.

Thanks in advance everyone.
Shaunda

Hello, Shaunda,
Sudden overheating problems in California this time of year might be connected to a failed thermostat. It's a relatively inexpensive item, easily found at most parts houses; O'Reilly for example, or any other auto parts store near you where they treat you with respect. Unfortunately I don't think you'll find an open store today.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Hello and welcome to our forum Shaunda, Pity your car is overheating. I would certainly start with the easy thermostat as Elinor suggested.

Just a tip though, don't put too much faith in the Temperature gauge as it will sit as 'normal' until it may be too late. If the housing that holds the thermostat is plastic these are known to fail as well.Usually they have been replaced with a metal one by now.

Hope all goes well, you are quite brave, good luck.Neil
