Default New to Forum. Yorkshire, England.

Hi all.
Just arrive here today after a few previous visits as a guest. I figured I ought to join and reap the benefits.

So far I'm very impressed with what I've seen/read, seems a very friendly place.

Anyway, I'm Sean and I live near Leeds, England. For the last 15 years or so I've had VW's, but recently decided to get the car I'd always really fancied. So I went and bought a 1997 XJR. Its going to need a few little jobs doing, but I'm a reasonably competent home mechanic and always up to a challenge. Hopefully I'll benefit from the huge resources and knowledge available here.
I look forward to getting to know some of you and enjoying our mutual interest in Jags.

Thanks for the welcome Norri.
I'll have a good nosey around the forums, thanks for those links.
One question I have is: How do I go about editing my poorly spelt posts?

Welcome to the forum Sean,

Follow Norri's link to the XK8/XKR tech section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

At the bottom right of each of your posts you'll find the Edit button:

You can edit anything in your own posts except the title. Only the Moderator Team can do this for you.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Hello & welcome , nice to see you here . As this site is mainly directed at N American owners , you may get some strange spellings. However I am also a member of the UK Jaguar Forums & you get some strange spellings on that site also .

Pete,

Whilst that was true about the membership demographic in the early days, we've tried very hard to make the forum truly International.

Where there is a majority of posts on a topic from North American members, this reflects their more hands-on approach to Jaguar ownership. Inventiveness and self-reliance is in direct proportion to distance from the Jaguar factory.

Hmm this Jaguar ownership is going to be fun. I put £50 in last night, projected mileage on the trip computer......122miles! Ha ha
I love this car already.
Got a few little jobs to do over the coming weeks, but thankfully there is no cam chain rattle. However, I may whip the covers off just to check the tensioners have been done.

Welcome to the forum from a fellow "VW guy". If you were by chance on the "vortex" then you will love this place as there aren't many people that I've seen so far that lose their mind when someone asks a obvious or already asked question!

Cheers!

Cheers Kyle.
My other car is still a veedub.
The Jag is my posh weekend car.
I'll soon be starting work on the XJ, first thing is a good service and tidy up underneath. Got a bit of surface rust coming through.
I was on the vortex as well, great place full of knowledgeable folk. Just how did home mechanics get by before the internet???
