Default New Here

Hello all I just purchased a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 L from a very nice couple who had the car parked for many years. interior and exterior look brand new and only 65000 miles. They where told by Jaguar many years ago the Big end Bearings where shot. I took a chance read up on possible problems and just got the car on Thursday and as I had the car looked at by a friend and took it apart yesterday found it was just the Tensioner failure.

Welcome to this friendly Forum. Have you cranked your bargain up yet? If not it's worth pulling the fuel pump relay and turning over with the key to pressurise the tensioners.
Let us know if she runs OK.

You'd accidentally typed 'Hear' instead of 'Here' so i fixed it - you'll be able to edit your own posts after you've made a few more postings.

Welcome to the forum tigermc75,

This is one of the few times 'just tensioners' sounds good news on a V8.

Definitely better than bearings. Hope it's running sweetly again soon.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham
