New here from New Hampshire
Well, I am new here and have come to learn. I am not currently a Jaguar owner but somehow the bug has bit me. That bug is a 1997 xj6 vanden. Sapphire blue I believe the color is known as. Looks like a breath of fast fresh air! So I thought I would look into this creature to see what was up. Man, in looking through various test and consumer ratings, I don't think I have seen such consistant raving reviews and happy drivers. Now I'm thinkin' maybe she's not just a pretty face! I hope to test run her and have a mechanic peek at her this week. Fingers crossed it dosen't sell out from under me. I haven't been this excited about a car in 23 years. I am 51. My last car just gave up the ghost (to rust). I had been driving her since 1988. Just thinking about this XJ has put an abrupt end to my recent mourning period. Even that is enough to be thankful for. Thank you all for such valuable and helpful information. If the stars are right I may soon be in your ranks! All the best, Jobe
Welcome, X300s are totally nice rides I love them too
The color you mentioned is also an exquisite one . If you need more help you can check out X300 Forums and make sure you visit other sections too

Hi - welcome to the forums. Good place here to acquire all kinds of info on your pursuit.
The 97 (X300) is a very solid car mechanically. If it has the straight 6 (known as the AJ16) is one of the best 6 cylinder engines Jag ever built.
Of course, living in NH, you need to do due diligence with this car to ensure you can pass NH inspection, but the good news is, this car is not known for rusting through even in harsh environments like NH. Don't know where you are in NH, but if you're SW you'll have to take a cruise on the 101 to the ocean. That car will take you there in style. If you're already on the coast, then a nice cruise up to Kennebunkport would be in order!

Thank you for the welcome Cadillac and Steve11. Sounds like you know your way around New England Steve! Well, today is the day to find a way to schedule a good shop for a pre-purchase inspection. Think I'll make a post over there in the 300 section!

Welcome aboard jobe
Get a few posts under your belt, welcome a few other newbies to the site, check out the regional section and off topic section, maybe post a mug shot of yourself.....before you know it, you have full forum access and we all get to know a little more about each other....all good
Thanks JimC64: Today is a day of full access. Full access to the Forums and hopefully full access to a $10,000.00 beast of a machine that will majically tell me all about the car I would like to buy! By the way, waiting for a call back from a Rover shop that is steps away from where the car is at. His machine may be able to plug into the xj6. Don't know. Boy, that would simplify things. The seller is willing to drop the car off for me and I haven't even put a deposit down!
