Default New Jag owner from Lake Wallenpaupack

I'm so new I haven't even picked up my 1998 Jaguar XK8 Coupe yet. I am a very eclectic car owner/collector and have just gone through my "British Cars of My Youth" collection consisting of a 1961 Bugeye Sprite and a 1970 Triumph GT6. I am now ready both physically and mentally to move on to more of a "big boy" car..for a lot of reasons but mostly because i can no longer fit comfortably into the Sprite or the GT6. I've also restored and owned a '51 Chevy PU, '49 & '52 Chevy Suburbans, a 1970 Chevy El Camino SS454 and a '42 Chevy PU.
I've always admired Jaguars but was reluctant to acquire one because of some probably ignorant pre-.conceptions. Well, I now own a 1998 XK8 with its Nikosil motor and deteriorating timing belt tensioners, but i have confidence in this car.
It has only accumulated 40k miles in its 17 years and its condition inside and out is pristine. The powertrain operates flawlessly (I'm knocking on wood).
i look forward to being a positive contributing member of this Jaguar website, I've already gleaned a lot of info that made my Jaguar purchase process much easier.
(BTW: I pick up the XK8 next Wednesday and Lake Wallenpaupack is in northeastern Pennsylvania)

Welcome to the forum sg18438,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

It sounds like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
