Default New Jaguar lover here

Hello all, I am katt, user name kinda a duh I guess lol but anyway as soon as the old tax refund is in the works, I will be either getting a 2003 xj or if that does not work out I will pick myself up an older Jag. One way or another darn it, I am going to have one! I really like the xjs, nice body style, but I heard the old v12's need a lot of lovin. I can turn a wrench no problem, spent years doing that on old VW's and well daddy is a snap on dealer, so that helps lol I will be hitting all you wonderful informed folks up for suggestions and the like when I am to the point of becoming a proud owner of those sexy cat cars. Told my son I was going to get another cat and he had a fit until I explained it would have four wheels lol Look forward to getting to know everyone on here and I am happy to have found this forum.

Welcome to the forum katt,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Just my opinion but the 2003 XJ is the way to go if you need a daily driver and the XJS if you want a weekend vehicle.

Follow this link XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X350 forum for help, advice and information on the aluminium bodied 2003 XJ.
This one XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum for the earlier steel bodied model and this one XJS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum for the XJS. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You can also visit the US Mid West Region forum by following this link Mid West US - IL IN IA MI MN MO OH WI - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the search for your Jaguar and enjoy the forums.

Thanks for the welcome and info, I will most definitely check it out. Yea on the XJS I would be keeping my jeep and using it as the fun car lol. But my hope is being able to trade the Jeep in for the 2003 XJ *fingers crossed*

Well I kinda dropped off here for a while, ended up not getting a Jaguar at that time, but now it seems there is a good chance that I might start my summer off driving a 1989 XJS. I have a Nice low miles Oldsmobile cutlass that I am going to trade for it, if that guy likes it. Going this Saturday to look it over and if it is not junk, take it home. And yes I am ready to roll up my sleeves to keep this baby going. It will be the fun car, I got a big beast of a ford truck I use as a daily driver, so the kitty can sleep in the hot sun during the week. Where can I find info in specialty tools that might be needed (daddy is a snap on guy) and suggested repair manuals?

You have the right attitude for sure. I've learned in my own brief experience with these cars, the older they are the more care they need. If you're willing and able to do all that, you'll do just fine.

Welcome from ElinorB.
