New Jaguar Owner
My father was a huge car fan and worked in the automobile industry at many levels from Mechanic to VP of Sales for Echlin... Remember those huge computers with the big boom that would swing over your car and run diagnostic tests? He helped design those, marketed them and sold them all over the US. I grew up with my dad working on cars. I don't think there was a month of any year where I didn't see him, or help him, work on someone's car in the garage.
When he retired he finally bought his dream car, a Jaguar. His first was an S-Type RS, and he owned many others over the next twenty years including an XKR-175. That one was totaled... Dad was at a McDonald's in the drive through line when a drunk driver ran a red light, skipped a curb and smashed the XKR between his car and the McDonald's Dad was fine, the XKR was not. We raced his Jags in open road races until Covid hit and Dad couldn't do the racing anymore.
Dad passed last November and I now have his 2015 XF-RS. I have many many good memories and thousands of miles driven in that car with him and I look forward to Jaguar ownership.
That said, I know nothing about Jaguars, but I do know cars. I daily drive and regularly race a highly modified Fiat 500 Abarth. I am building a DF Goblin (a tube frame open wheel car using the motor, transmission and electrical system of a 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS).
I do all my own work and I will be coming here for advice and instruction and I am looking forward to contributing as well.

Hello, Paul,
I'm sorry for your loss of your dad. He sounds like a Wonderful father.
The only difference between Jags and any other car is that sometimes we shake our heads and ask, Why in the World did they do it like that?!
But once you get the hang of them, it all becomes clear how to proceed. If you get stuck, there are many hands here to help.

First XK
Had a 1988 XJ6, then leased a XJ12 when it came out, ordered a racing green XJ12 with real wire wheels when the 2-yr lease ended. Was disappointed with the V8 when it replaced the 12. Seems to be OK in the XK8 convertible though. Bought it as an investment. I think it will appreciate like the E type eventually.
