Default New Jaguar XJ8 LWB owner

Hi everyone. Got a 1998 LWB Jaguar XJ8 for Christmas. Both front wings were needing replaced, fog lights and reflectors needed replaced, boot lock was missing, transmission running rough, needed 2 back tyres, oil leak from under the engine, rattle from rear shocker/bush, electric aerial not working and pass side electric window not going fully up.

Given all that I love it. The engine is sweet (4.0 v8). Interior was shabby but has cleaned up quite nice.

Just got it on the road. Passed MOT. So far I have replaced both front wings, got the tyres, replaced the lights and reflectors, changed transmission oil (only 1 litre came out - now running great). Will slowly tackle the other jobs as I have time/money and further knowledge.

I am new to car maintenance but enjoy it so far. Looking for lots of tips on here so I can fix this old cat on a budget.

Charlie.

Welcome Charlie,

Getting an introduction to car maintenance with an XJ8L is jumping in at the deep end!

You're doing well so far to get it throught the MoT. Plenty of help and advice on the XJ (X308) XJ8 XJR section.

Graham
