Default New to the Jaguars!

Hello all,

I was recently gifted a 1995 xj6 with 116k miles. It has the 4.0 inline 6 non supercharged. Car is very clean all around, and hope to get it back to near show room quality with some exceptions of course. The main reason i'm joining this forum is for insight from other owners and mechanics alike. I consider myself very mechanically inclined as I have built a few cars in the past. This particular car was my grandfathers 4th Jag, and from what he has told me has needed virtually no maintenence aside from oil changes and services. It was definatly well taken care of and anything that came up that did need to be fixed (brakes, susp, exhaust, etc..) had been done with out hesitation. I look forward to chating with everyone and learning more about these vehicles!

What a wonderful gift! Your grandfather sounds like a very generous man.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum spdfreak04

You will have no problems getting the right advice here I'm sure. A free series111 is nice gesture and I'm sure it will gladden your grandfathers heart to see it back to showroom quality.

Best of luck and if you find time maybe some before and after pictures would be enjoyed by all here.
Enjoy, Neil

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Welcome spdfreak04 ... and greetings from fellow enthusiasts in Australia.

The XJ6 will be a rewarding refurb ... and a great payback of the terrific legacy bestowed by your grandfather. You will find plenty of resources, advice and shared friendship here ... from the forum's main menu, jump over to the model specific XJ6/XJ12 section where there is plenty to read and absorb.

I also encourage you, as per Norri's posted links, to visit the regional section shared by other members in your area ... and add your car details to your signature as a permanent flag to enable other members to offer accurate advice ... from Main Menu, click <User CP> then <Edit Signature>.

All that remains is to dive into the forum ... and enjoy!

Best wishes,
Ken

Thanks spdfreak04;

All of us, at some stage, started at the ground floor (enthusiasm 10; knowledge 0) ... and ever since, with every new model, the learning curve starts again. So, don't feel nervous, and never dismiss your questions as silly ... by all means prepare and do your homework by using the forum search tools for background ... but then ask away.

Best wishes,
Ken

Thanks for the words of encouragement Ken! It's pretty much all I've been doing with my spare time, is research and read. But like you said, everyone starts somewhere luckily I'll have help here

I'll try to upload a picture from my phone let's see how this works. Car was water spotted bad from a recent storm that passed late last week. But still a sharp looking car and it grows on me more and more each day

A late 'Welcome' to Jaguar Forums from me spdfreak04. I've been away driving my Jaguar across Europe and had no internet access.

I had a 96 X300 like yours and it had covered over 150K troublefree miles when I sold it.

Thank you Graham

Sounds like quite an exciting trip! I wish I could take off work and drive the old route 66 from Chicago to L.A. taking as much of the original route as possible.

I hope that after I figure out this transmission issue that this one will be the same way if not maybe a little farther

Drew
