New (to me) 2000 XK8
This forum has already been an immense help!
I'm retired USN (Submarines) and live north of Jacksonville, FL.
My passion is motorcycling and I presently own two Harleys, a Goldwing and a Pat Kennedy chopper. A group of us have made a "bike" trip every year since '97 to Canada (numerous times), the west coast, Mexico and all points in between. The dresser that I own has 105k+ miles and still counting.
I was fortunate enough to drive a 1997 XK8 when they first came to Jacksonville. I was hooked, but it has taken this long for them to get into my price range...
The one I purchased has only 43k miles, and was advertised as being a one owner car. It is blue/blue with white interior. According to the receipts that came with the car the top latch hyd. line and windshield have been replaced as well as the thermostat. There is evidence of acid having leaked from the mirror, so they probably cracked the windshield trying to remove it. I plan to contact the dealer to determine if the tensioners have been replaced. If not, I will replace them soon.
This is my first membership in a forum, and it looks as though I joined the best. Thank-you for all the valuable information!

Welcome to the forum Blue XK8,
Great Intro.
Add to the warning on tensioners a thorough check on the cooling system (water pump/thermostat).
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of the XK8/XKR tech section has details on both of these and all other regular issues.
Enjoy the forum.

Welcome Blue XK8! This was the first forum I joined too,
(I later joined BimmerForums to watch the fireworks, it has
a lot of arguing, that was the main impression I got from it)
and I agree that it is a really friendly and helpful one. We
also have a lot of users who will go above and beyond any-
thing I've ever imagined, and have saved me when I least
expected it. I could never put a price on being a member of
this forum, and it is generally free of any usual interweb maladies.
If you've been trawling for info before, I'm sure you are already
familair with this section: XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
so that one will be full of helpful stuff.
Cheers and welcome from a fellow Floridian! (and former blue
XK8-ist)

It is refreshing to read forum entries that are not "in my face" by "know it alls". Thanks.
I failed to mention that I have owned many convertibles, including Corvairs, MG(B)'s, GTO's, Beemers, a Corvette and a Miata. Aside from the known deficiencies, this XK is the finest one of the bunch.
