tb7,(apologize a lil new to post might have submitted incorrectly) thank you for a great forum, unfortunately it was after we snatched the fuel tank out with brute strength and found 1 line ( in the body of the car )and a metal hose connected to the back of the tank. i can laugh at my errors now that i have a least a group that have made worse mistakes and the know how to correct. My baby, a black on black 01 xk8 convertible that has sat for 2 years due to the damn fail safe code, a short in throttle body, bad front end that shakes the whole car when you hit a pothole, a hydralic hose leak in the convertible. Money was set aside for repair but family emergiencies depleted, she has mold in the interior, sap on the body, pollen on the convertible top, water under the backseat, (pics will follow soon), i've got stress in my marriage and i need her up and purring to feel good. Is that to much to ask? So if this forum can assist me to get her back in mint condition gratitude is an understatement.

Back to repairs: Once we found out why the tank wasnt coming out (never disconnected the lines.) i need help putting it correctly back, what are exactly are the two lines anyway? We tried to start after we bridged the gap w hose from the exposed line in the body to the metal , disregarding the other open port, and gas went everywhere. So how can i found the lines from the bottom. The metal hose in the tank is turning to loose. Need direction before i get fustrated, send to the shop and pay a high bill. Thanks guys

Welcome to the forum,

You would be best to post in the XK section for answers to your tech questions.

Good luck with the repairs, it sounds like the car needs some TLC.
