My name is Howard and I live in Northern New Jersey.
I just bought a 2003 X Type 2.5 sport with 98,670 miles on it. When I looked at the car everything seemed fine and there were no warning lights.
I got the car Friday and yesterday got it registered. I drove a bit yesterday and after a couple of short trips and after getting gas the engine malfunction light came on. It has stayed on even though nothing appears wrong and the car seems to be running normally.
I hate to ask for help first6 thing but anybody have a thought on what might have caused the light to come on.

You're going to have to get a code reader on the X-Type to find out why the CEL is on. Without that, it's speculation and guesswork.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
