Default New member - 2003 jaguar x-type 3.0

Hello everyone,

I am new here, just purchased a 2003 jaguar x type 3.0 to work on that supposedly has an overheating issue. Only driven once as I just got it and probably drove in about 40 degree Fahrenheit weather for 20 to 30 minutes without seeing temp gauge go above half. Excited to start working on it, pic attached!

Welcome to the forums 7aedea7,

A Jaguar temperature gauge is NOT a laboratory level measuring instrument - consider any mention of overheating as something to be checked.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham, thank you for your response. I've been looking at some of the forums before joining and getting the vehicle. The plan is to replace the thermostat, waterpump and do a radiator flush (items already on their way) and go from there.

Good plan. Jaguar have always had an uneasy relationship with water pumps and cooling. They're still trying to get it right on the current range!
