I would make the normal stupid American " your steering wheel is on the wrong side" joke, but saying as it is a British car in Britain I will abstain.

Thanks for the welcome, only had it a week and broke it already,
whilst drilling a hole through the parcel shelf to install some parking sensors i cut through about six wires one of them being suppl;y to fuel pump.
still all fixed now and £65 lighter, that will teach me heh?
see i am not just an old f**t but a silly old f**t to boot...
still it all ads to life experiences....
regards
John....

Welcome to the forum John,

The Newcastle-upon-Type 'BB' registration number caught my eye even before reading your location. Your XJ8 looks in nice condition.

Follow Norri's link to the X308 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

John,

The Model you have is an X308 - the XJ8 manufactured between 1997-2003. In the UK it was available with 3.2 or 4.0 litre engine and a variety of trim specifications.

If you ask nicely at the Jaguar Dealer, Stratstone in Houghton-le-Spring, they'll do a printout from the 'Direct Dealer Warranty' system for you. This will detail exactly what specification you have.

Be very careful when removing the Steering Wheel. You must first discharge the Airbag to avoid risking setting it off. Depending on what you are wanting to do, you may not need to remove the wheel...............?

Thanks for the quick reply Graham and the answers.
I am removing the steering wheel to replace it with a half wooden one,
I have done this before when i fitted a walnut one to my Rover 75 so i was just wondering if it was the same procedure and it looks like exactly the same.
The thing now is i am going to end up with two half wood steering wheels after a mix up on eBay still never mind heh better have an extra as be short of one....
kindest regards.
John....
