Hi all my name is Michael and I am from Wagga Wagga NSW Australia. I have owned several older Renault's (mainly r12's) and am now looking to get into something different. Jaguars have always appealed to me so I have decided to "jump across the channel" so to speak and buy a Jag. I have yet to drive one so am hoping I wont be disappointed!!
I joined this forum to get a bit of insight to these great cars and learn what to look for in buying one. I am looking at getting an XJ40. I will post a thread in the appropriate area on this.
So I am looking forward to getting a Jag, learning about it and looking through this great forum.
Thanks in advance.

Michael

Welcome to the forum Michael. I see that you have asked in the XJ40 section, good on you.

Also check the FAQ for that section and the XJ6 section.

R12s, even I don't see too many of them, had 9s, 11s and a 16. Lost the last 9 at the start of the year when the drivers door fell off with most of the A pillar. Even bailing twine couldn't cure that one.

Best of luck with your search.

Hi all I finally got my Jag but I ended up going with a 1978 S2 XJ 4.2. Wanted somthing with a bit more chrome on it than an XJ40!
Loving it so far!!

All the best
Michael

Welcome Michael.

S2, good choice for a first Jag, soooooo classic and reliable, and fixable with relative ease.

Congratulations Michael,

It's taken a while but you've got there.

No need for me to give you a link to the XJ6 Series II tech section as you'll certainly already know your way around here.

Let's see some pics.

Looks in nice condition.

The only yellow I recall from that period is Cotswold Yellow. It's a while back but I thought it was paler than yours.
