Wow I just discovered my used 1999 XK8 convertible has the same transmission as my 2007 Dodge Magnum RT. Since they hold up fine behind a 350 HP 5.7 Hemi it should last a while behind a 4.0 l. However the two transmissions could not behave more differently. I can't tell the Jag shifts. In my Dodge there is no doubt when it shifts. Not harsh but quick and firm which will prolong clutch life.
welcome to the forum from the SC Lowcountry, may not be as robust of a transmission as you hope as it does have some flaws and needed servicing to keep it functional - plenty of info in the XK8/XKR (X100) section. Recommend going to the User CP and adding a signature including Model and year of your XK as it will help down the road when posting questions about issues - enjoy!!

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar XK8!
Many people don't understand this about automatic transmissions, that HARSH shift isn't necessarily a good thing, but they want "silky smooth" shifts. So, manufacturers simply give people what they want.
