Hi, I am a new member to this forum but not new to Jag's and Daimler's.

A bit of history about me for you's interested, I am a 34 year old male from Glasgow, Scotland (not really Glasgow but nearest big town/city)

I have been involved with Jaguar's since my dad bought his one just over 10 yrs ago. He bought a 1994 Jaguar 4.0 ltr sovergien which he had till 2006.

At Christmas 2005 I was asked by a family friend if I thought my dad would like another one, a 1991 white base model 3.2 with about 7 months mot for £400.

He wasn't really interested as we had enough cars!! For a laugh I phoned for insurance on it (I was insuring a second car that a friend could drive). Being only 25 at the time and with only a year or two's no claims on the second policy I was expecting a rather high quote, I was surprised at how low the quote was.

Still not really wanting it I had to go and see our friend and was intending to say "thanks but no thanks", but ending up coming away with the keys for it!! and an agreement to pay fifty pounds or so every month or so till it was paid of!!

Luckily the summer of 2006 my sister was getting married so my wedding present to her was the Jag for iether the bride or bridesmaid car (she had been with my brother inlaw for 10yrs and didn't really have a wedding list for gifts).

I had a bit of work to do on the car to clean it up as my friend had a garage/mot station and also a small holding and it had been used on the small holding for all sorts including carrying feed for animals and animals them self.

It came up like new and was the bridesmaid car. In 2009 it failed the mot on welding (whole bottom of it was rotten) so it was sadly scrapped. Just at the excact time it was scrapped I was offered a 1986 Daimler XJ40 not moted, went to see it (I had booked it in for an mot the next day and transferred the insurance so I could drive it home if we took it).

The windscreen had just been damaged on it but it looked solid and good so we decided to take it (my dad was with me) the best bit was it was free!! I gave the guy £50 for it.

Don't want to bore everyone to much so will continue this later lol, So hi everyone

Thanks GGG,

To continue my story,

I drove the Daimler home that night and next morning cancelled the mot as it was needing a new windscreen. I phoned a contact I made when I worked in a garage and a few days later it had a new second hand windscreen fitted. It failed the mot on a couple of bits needing welded on the passenger side sill. Welding done it passed the restest. Now some back ground info, When my dad bought his Jag I had an Audi A4 p reg. He sold his in 2007. By then I had bought an Audi A6 the 100 style model in 2005, and a friend had used the A4 for a year. I owed my parents some money and paid it off in 2006 with the A4, lol my dad had to stop using the Jag as it was costing to much for an everyday car for him. I had the daimler on the road only a few weeks maybe a couple of months, when I was forced in to a crash barrier writing it off. The accident happened on a Wednesday evening, I got home that night and started my hunt for another by Sunday I had found one in Harlow London. (I was really needing one as my sister was using my dads car, hers was off the road, my dad was using my car now a 03 plate Audi A6 diesel sport) That next week me and my dad went to pick it up, I had it 6 months then it was written off. This time it went through insurance last time it hadn't as it would have cost more losing on my no claims than I had paid for the car! I got £900 as a pay out not bad as the car had only cost £500. I bought a 96 X300 exceutive still using it as an everday car as my sister was now using my Audi. I was starting to find the X300 a bit expensive on fuel, it was a 3.2, and was missing the Daimler refinements lol. I decided something had to be done and lpg seemed the way to go. I thought of converting the X300 but as it was a basic model, and the conversion was expensive it meant it would have to be a long term investment. I decided to look for another Daimler.

TBC!!
