Hi All,

I have been a Jaguar owner since the late 80s and have a Series II XJ6 from way back then which is finally having some restoration done on it. Up to about 2 months ago my daily driver (for the past 9 years and 90k miles) was a 1995 4.0L XJS. unfortunately whilst doing some welding of the floor for the MOT I managed to set light to some of the interior. As I suspected, the insurance company have written it off

So...... I have just this week purchased a 2003 4.2 XKR convertible . I was looking for a 2001 XKR coupe but this car was just sitting there looking stunning, daring me to buy it. Needless to say the heart overrulled the head and of course the budget and now I own a convertible. I am very happy with it and still at the stage where you notice those fine details that you know are going to annoy you until they are fixed. (the odd scratch, minor blemish or rattle kind of thing) Mind you, with the sports exhaust fitted, a quick blip of the throttle and I am smiling again!

I also keep finding little things that I was not aware of such as heated seats. Another example of this was on the drive home from the dealer. I was getting frustrated with the radio cutting off and displaying "Phone" every few few seconds along with an annoying tone. It turnes out that there is a factory fitted phone in the centre console and the coiled cable was across the buttons. Every time I went over a bump, my arm must have pressed down on the lid and pressed a button on the phone! Easy fix but now my thoughts turn to that phone. Should I just buy a "Pay as you go SIM" but then theres two numbers for me, or shall I go down the route of moving my parrot bluetooth box from the XJS and into the XKR and use the helpful guides I have seen on this site to fit it. It does have the Satnav option so that gives me some options too.

Lots to talk about and loads to read up on, looking forward to it!

Regards

Dodgy

Welcome to the forum dodgy,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. Thanks for a great Intro.

You can edit the content of any of your posts but not the title (only the Mod Team can do that) so I've given you a smile.

Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR section for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You can also visit the UK Region section by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome dodgy. Setting fire to the thing I was trying to repair sounds like exactly the sort of thing I'd do!
