First post, so bear with me!

I have a 2000 XJ8 an am suddenly having starting problems.

Note: problem is intermittent!

I insert key and seat, steering wheel, etc operates ok
I turn key to start and NOTHING! No clicking just all diagnostics lights light up!

If I let the car sit for a while, it usually starts, so battery is ok. But I never know when it won't start.

Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear about your starting issues.

Many possibilities from the ignition switch exciter ring not picking up the chip in the key to loose or damaged cables etc in the starting circuit.

Start a new thread in the XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section with the details. Resident experts with the same model will no doubt respond with all the things to check.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature. This helps other to provide relevant information.
