Default New member intro

Howdy, all! I just bought a new-to-me 2011 Jaguar XKR-175. It had 56000 miles on it and was in like-new condition. I'm going to enjoy the heck out of this car in the Raleigh, NC, USA area. I'll probably get some hate for it, but this will be my daily driver. It was inexpensive, available, gorgeous, and showed up on the market at exactly the right time. You folks have already helped me with a couple of issues:

1- I was unpleasantly surprised by the lack of bluetooth audio. Amazon had a BoVee 1000 to me in less than 24 hours. I plugged it in, disabled calling through the BoVee on my Pixel6, and it's already working great. I disabled the calling due to the "pausing every 10 seconds" issue that I'd seen reported on here. I wanted to get that fixed before I ever saw an issue.
2- During the inspection, it turned up a bunch of codes. When I started researching, every single code said "this, that, something else, or an old battery."

I took delivery of the car at about noon on Friday and proceeded to drive it the 650 miles home. It rained the entire time. I couldn't even hear her roar because of the wet roads. The next morning, I wanted to remedy that. I jumped into the car, pressed the start button and.... I said... pressed the start button and..... started swearing. It didn't take me long to find the battery and see it was the original battery. $300 later, a new battery was in. She started right up. I cleared the codes and put another hundred miles on her. No codes, so far. Here's hoping that I got that all fixed up!

Anyway... Thanks for your info and expertise. I hope everyone has a great day!

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar XKR! Good job DRIVING it home!! That was the Perfect Bonding Experience for both you and the car.

56000 miles, no matter the age, is just now well loosened up and broken in. You should be able to get at least another 100K out of it, if not a lot more with proper care and feeding.

And, Why would you think you'll "get some hate" for DRIVING your Jag?? These cars were Intended to be DRIVEN! They should Never be Garage Queens! That's the saddest life for a car, just to sit and ROT, never seeing fresh air or sunshine, never being appreciated by The Public.

It feeds the Myth that Jags are unreliable and only fit to sit at home and be polished until the paint comes off. You're doing exactly the Right Thing!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
