Default New Member Intro-Interested in Buying a XK8/XKR

Hello Everyone,

A little background about myself...I'm a 23 year old guy in Texas who has loved Jaguars all my life. The class they exude and their beauty has always attracted me to them, but I never had the money or rich parents to own one. I graduated college recently and never really had much fun with spring breaks and such, so I'm looking to have some fun and give a graduation present to myself. The company car I have with my job is nice, but let's face it a GMC Terrain isn't going to get my heart racing anytime soon. So I'm looking to purchase a XK8/XKR convertible sometime this year, mostly as a weekend cruising car. The newer/lower the miles the better obviously, but with my budget of around 15k it would have to be somewhere around a 2002 (give or take a couple years). This forum has helped me tremendously in my search with tips about these cars, so I figured I would sign up. I'm hoping y'all will be an awesome resource to help with some questions I might have that pop up in my quest to own one of these beauties, and when I do I'd love to be a part of this community that actually owns a Jag!

Best,

Dennis

Welcome Dennis,
Sounds like you have the bug already. if you haven't already head over to the XK8/XKR section and do your homework. Do you have the ability and a place to work on a Jag yourself? If not they can get expensive quickly to keep them on the road. Remember you are looking at a 10-15 year old car and all the issues that go along with it. There are numerous experts on this forum that can help and guide you through most of it. Make sure you go in with your eyes wide open and include in your budget a couple thousand for repairs. (pre 2003, tensioners!) With that said, they are wonderful automobiles and a pure joy to own and drive, good luck with the search.
