Default New Member looking to buy a couple X300s

I owned a 1993 Vanden Plas from 2000-2002 before I got married, and sold it for a more practical Mazda 626 ES-V6 and Ford Explorer XLT that had much lower miles. Both those have high miles now, and we are selling them off. So, we are looking to buy a couple low mileage X300s for the luxury, and straight 6 & smooth GM tranny. I'm semi-retired, so I have been looking and reading online for about a week straight (8-10 hours a day) on all the issues to watch for and just looking around the country at what is for sale. The big dilemma is we live in Arkansas at the moment and few Jags are for sale locally.
So, what do most of you do if you are interested in cars that are half way across the country such as this one?

Welcome,
The car looks decent and neat to the pics ,X300s are quite reliable cars too . I would go no matter what far away a car from me as long as I want to buy one desperately

Welcome to the forum Jason, apart from travel, I suppose you could pay an independent outfit to check the car for you.

Looks to be a big difference between the quoted price and the windscreen price.

Nice looking car though.

welcome to the site jason586
You won't be the frst with that issue and probably not the last either....I'm guessin you can only really do your homework, then take a bit of pot luck as has worked for some others here.....
Get some local Independent to check it out for you.....
Possibly try Texascarsdirect, where I believe many members here have bought from? In fact there are even some local members who would probably check out the car for you if asked and seemingly they have some great deals available....

Anyhow, good luck with your search

Hi Jason, welcome. I've been looking at getting an XKR, and like you, there's nothing here locally. I am also considering the XK8 as well, but want to check out an XKR before making up my mind so I'm not ready to go half way across the country for a car I'm not 100% sure about, but don't want to settle for the XK8 just because there is one nearby. Believe me, I feel your pain. ;-) I think if I _knew_ the XKR was the way I wanted to go, I'd probably be willing to do the fly_and_drive. I've had excellent luck with my XJ6 (I'm not sure I'm going to be able to give it up when I get the XK) that I think these cars are worth a bit extra work/cost they seem to require to get and maintain.
