Just purchased my first Jag -1985 XJ6 Auto-transmission. I am super excited about the vehicle, it has about 125,000 original miles and used to belong to a Jaguar Dealer's Service Dept Manager. He really took care of the cat!

With no experience working on cars fixed a window problem with this forum's help by changing the window lift relay.

Some things that I have in mind is to:

Change the transmission fluid or just top it off

Change brakes and top off brake fluid

Oil change

Flush the radiator and add new coolant because the car shut off few times in traffic and seems to have "hot" start issue.

There is a gas leak by the right tank, but the car functions on the left tank with no leaks, I plan on inspecting it and fixing the problem.

Buy and change new fuses because some of the old ones do not match the correct fuse.

Other than that the seats and the paint are in great condition. I bought a whole jag collections with video tapes, tools, journals, and even jaguar sunglasses

Thanks.

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Welcome 85xj6iii ... and greetings from fellow enthusiasts in Australia.

Your XJ6 sounds like it has a history of being well maintained and you are to be congratulated for recognizing the need to continue. You will find plenty of resources, advice and shared friendship here ... from the forum's main menu, jump over to the model specific section to check out the XJ6/12 action. I also encourage you to visit the regional section shared by other members in your area ... local and regional events are second only to the advice from fellow members of recommended service providers in your area ... Trevor's offer is a fine example.

All that remains is for you to dive in and enjoy!

Best wishes,
Ken

A late 'Welcome' to Jaguar Forums from me 85xj6iii.

I've been away driving my Jaguar across Europe and had no internet access.
