Just wanted to introduce myself. Im Pete H from Randleman NC. I once owned a 1969 E-type for 6 weeks but got offered so much money for it, 3 times what I paid that I had to sell telling myself I'll buy another one. Well 20 years later I finally did. A 1997 XKE in near factory new condition. I look forward to learning more from this group and I thank everyone ahead of time for all the help I'm sure I will get as time goes on.

A typo and you meant it's an XK8?

There's a few known weaknesses you need to check. V8 tensioners and ZF transmission fluid changes are the main things. You'll find info on this and much more in the XK8/XKR 1996-2006 section.

That's assuming you intend keeping this one for longer than 6 weeks!
