Hey all, I'm a new member to the forum. I had a new XJR back in 01, decided that it wasn't the right car for a 19 year old.

Since then, I've had a few different vehicles since then and I'm looking to get back into an XJR. I'm going to look at a couple tomorrow and will hopefully come home with one of them.

Thanks for the welcome. I've looked at a few XJRs over the last couple of days. It amazes me how poorly some people take care of their cars.

True.

When assessing a potential purchase, besides the usual mechanical and bodywork considerations, remember Jaguar trim parts are a frightening price and factor any missing / damaged items into the negotiations.

Still searching for the Jag of my dreams, no luck as of yet. If anyone knows of an 04-06 XJR for sale, let me know.

Okay, so...unable to find a decent 04-06, and believe me, I've been looking high and low. Even went back down to LA to check out an 04 "low mileage" car. I've never seen such a beaten up, uncared for car in my life. I did find a 2002 XJR with 141k miles. It's a 1-owner car. He says he has all of the maintenance records. He's asking $5,000 obo. I'm wondering if I can get it in the $4k range and it's in the shape that he said and it appears in pictures, then hopefully I'll be bringing it home. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Wise move. If in doubt with a Jaguar - walk away. It's worth taking time to find the right one.

Just like you, I've gone to see Jaguars that have been described as 'immaculate' and turned out to be one step away from the breakers yard!

I hope this one works out.
