Hello All,

I just bought a 2006 XJ8 out of California and had it shipped to me here in Ohio. The car has just under 31,000 original miles on it from a single previous owner! Needless to say, it needed some immediate work, which this site and its users were instrumental in helping me get done. One, there was a squealing sound from the alternator area. Would not hold a charge and the dash would go bananas. This was 1 hour off the carrier after delivery. However, after reading some posts, I decided to follow a recommendation and replaced the serpentine belt and idler arm only. BOOM! Fixed! It took some time to get the grease and all burned off, but the squealing is now totally gone. This thing obviously sat for a while. Other things that needed to be done right away were clearing all of the errors. One post here explained the brake error (5 pumps), another was the sunroof reset. All of these things have saved me a fortune! I am so grateful to be here with all of you Legends of Jaguars!

Here she is…

Welcome to the forums TFDavidson,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar XJ8!
And, further congratulations on all your successful repairs. You almost can't have a problem with a Jaguar that someone else in here hasn't had at one time or another, and fixed it. As you have discovered, everyone is eager to share that knowledge.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
