I recently purchased a Burgundy 1987 XJ-SC in Jamestown N.Y. with 29,000 miles on her. The car found me through a co-worker who was trying to sell her husbands "Jag". My wife and I looked and loved it. The pre-purchase information on this forum was very helpful. The body is in excellent condition. The engine runs okay but the idle is not as smooth as it should be.

I did have a mechanic inspect the fuel hoses and replace spark plugs. He thought it fixed the idle issue. I disagree.

Plans for the winter will be cleaning the fuel injectors and replacing injector hoses. I'm a novice but have lots of heart.

Welcome to the real world of motoring.

That is a sweet find.

See ya on the XJ-S forum, lots of stuff there to keep you occupied.

New spark plugs that are gapped incorrectly will reek havoc with idle on those, along with a myriad of other iittle items.
