Hello all

It was suggested I introduce myself so here goes.

My name is Sam I am a 42 year old project manager living in Spain nearby to Gibraltar. As I sideline I buy, sell, dismantle and scrap cars mainly BMW's. I am also an avid hoarder of cars with a collection including a Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche Boxster S, Mercedes SL500, BMW Z4M, BMW M5, BMW 740 Sport, BMW 525 Touring, BMW 320d, BMW 316, Hyundai Accent Cup race car, BMW 330 race car, Peugeot 106, Datsun 120Y, Range Rover Sport, Audi TT and a Mitsubishi Shogun. Probably forgotten something in that lot as well.

So my latest car is .... well obviously its a Jaguar! I had a very quick ownership experience with an X Type which I quickly sold on as I didn't like it at all. I've scrapped a couple of XJ6 models in the past that were really far gone but never really driven one. I've always toyed with the idea and like the X300 better than the later models as it is so long and low. I also like the AJ16 engine better than the later V8. So when I was offered an XJ 6 3.2 by someone leaving the country that evening and needing quick sale I was happy to hand over the misely sum of £350 for it! Lacquer has gone completely on the bonnet, roof and boot but more importantly it is rust free other than strangely a few isolated spots on the roof. I actually like this patina so for now its staying as it is. Its also no chance of becoming a garage queen like many of my other cars and I am driving it daily racking up the miles. So far I've serviced it, changed front pads and rear shocks. Next on list are the tyres that have chinese writing on them and look a lot to me like winter tyres which is no good in Spanish summer ...

Bit of an oil leak developing front of engine. Annoying rattle over bumps that some members are already helping me with advise on (thanks guys!). Would like to change drivers seat and steering wheel, both showing their age compared to rest of interior. Headling looks new so I think that was replaced. A/C to fix (yup, its hot here!!) but I can do that myself.

Loving the car. Not massively powerful but does the job well enough. The main thing is I like driving it. They are not that common here so many people come up and ask me about it which I love.

Anyway thats about all!

Sam.

Welcome to the forums Sam,

I read your reply in the "rattle" thread. I enjoy the drive along AP7 on holiday but I wouldn't want to do it as a commute!

You've already found your way to the X300 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello, Sam,
Probably someone has already told you, ALL Jaguars leak oil. That's how they mark their territory as any good cat would/should.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
